Towards Sustainable Financial Architecture for Africa’s Food Systems

Vision

A continent with transformed food systems and safeguarded food sovereignty, powered by a resilient, inclusive, and self-sustaining agri-food financing ecosystem in Africa.

Mission

To serve as a pan-African platform for dialogue and action, mobilizing strategic partnerships and fostering public–private sector collaboration to advance sustainable, inclusive, and de-risked financing solutions for Africa’s agri-food systems.

Strategic Priorities

  • Assess and monitor the current agri-food financing and policy landscape.
  • Support implementation of continental commitments, such as the Kampala CAADP Declaration, through stronger financing frameworks.
  • Provide thought leadership on repurpos- ing and channelling financing to address critical agri-food system needs.
  • Champion models that expand financial access for smallholder farmers, women, youth, and cooperatives through inclusive solutions.
  • Promote de-risking mechanisms to crowd in private sector investment and scale blended finance.

Advocate for the use of quality data and evidence to inform sound decision-mak- ing in the agri-food system financing.

  • Deepen B2B, B2C, and B2G linkages to scale innovative financing models.
  • Foster multi-stakeholder partnerships that leverage digitalization, research, and technology for sustainable agri-food financing.
  • Advocate for inclusion of climate-smart, nutrition-sensitive, and inclusive ap- proaches into financing models.
  • Cultivate stronger local financing mech- anisms to build resilience and reduce dependency on shifting external aid.
